This policy explains how Young Corporation collects, uses and protects information in the software it operates. It covers YC FSIM and any other software that links to this page. Software sold under a different brand has its own privacy policy.
Who this policy covers
Businesses, such as service and construction companies, use our software to run their work. This policy covers two groups of people:
- Staff of those businesses, who sign in to the software to do their jobs.
- Customers of those businesses, whose details the business keeps in the software so it can schedule work, send estimates and invoices, and stay in touch.
For customer details, the business decides what to record and how to contact its customers. Young Corporation stores and processes those details on the business's behalf. If you are a customer of a business that uses our software, you can also ask that business about your information.
What we collect
From staff
- Your name and email address, from your account, to sign you in and show who did each piece of work.
- The work records you enter, such as jobs, visits, notes, photos, stock counts and transfers.
- The information described in the section for the app you use, such as location and crash reports.
About the customers of the businesses we serve
A business using our software may store these details about its customers:
- names
- phone numbers, including the mobile number used for text messages
- email addresses
- service and billing addresses
- service records, such as appointments, jobs, estimates, invoices and payments
- messages sent to and received from the customer by text message and email, and whether the customer has agreed to receive text messages or has opted out
How we use information
We use information only to provide and improve the software for the businesses that use it:
- to sign people in and keep accounts secure;
- to schedule, dispatch and record work;
- to send the appointment, estimate, invoice and other service messages a business asks the software to send on its behalf;
- to find and fix problems in the software.
We do not use customer details to market our own products. We do not show ads, and we do not track anyone across other companies' apps or websites.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share it with third parties or affiliates for their own purposes, including their marketing. We share information only in these cases:
- Within the business. Members of a business can see its records according to their role. Each business's data is kept separate from every other business's.
- Service providers. Companies that host the software, deliver its email and text messages, and collect crash reports process information on our instructions, only to provide those services to us. They may not use it for anything else.
- Systems the business connects. If a business connects its own systems, such as its accounting software, the software sends the relevant records to them at the business's request.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect someone's safety.
None of these cases covers text messaging opt-in data and consent, which the next section protects without exception.
Mobile information and text messaging
Businesses use our software to send text messages to their own customers, such as appointment reminders and on-the-way updates. The business collects each customer's consent before texting them, and the software records that consent.
Mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
A customer can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text message, and can get help by replying HELP. The text messaging terms describe the program in full.
This section applies to all software covered by this policy. Nothing else in this policy, and no section for an individual product, limits it.
The YC FSIM app
YC FSIM is a work app for the staff of the businesses that use it, on phones and on the web. Accounts are created only by invitation from an administrator at the business, so everyone who uses the app does so for their job.
What the app collects
- Your name and email address, from your account, to sign you in and show who did each piece of work.
- Your location, precise or approximate, read once when you tap a visit status such as en route or on site.
- Photos you attach to a visit.
- Notes and the other work records you enter, such as job lines, stock counts and transfers.
- Crash reports and diagnostics when the app hits an error, including the device model, operating system and app version.
- A random installation ID attached to those error reports, so we can tell whether one phone or many hit the same problem.
Location
The app reads your location only while you are using it, at the moment you tap a visit status. It never tracks you in the background or while the app is closed. Your business's dispatchers see the last position you tapped from on their dispatch board. You can refuse location access in your phone's settings; status taps still work without it.
Crash reports and diagnostics
We use crash reports and diagnostics only to find and fix problems in the app. Sentry collects them for us as a service provider. They are kept for a limited period and then deleted automatically.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, from the account settings in the phone app or the web app. If you leave your business, your sign-in is removed, but your name stays on the past work you did so the history remains accurate. If you delete your account, the past work stays but shows "Deleted user" instead of your name.
Security
Information travels between the software and our servers over encrypted connections. Each business's data is kept separate, and access requires an account in that business.
How long we keep information
We keep information for as long as the business keeps its business records in our software. When a business stops using our software, we delete or return its data as agreed with that business. We keep a record of a customer's text message opt-out for as long as the business uses our software, so that customer is not texted again.
Your choices
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing privacy@ycorp-app.com.
- Because work records are a business's records, some of them may need to be kept. We will tell you what we can delete and why.
- If you are a customer of a business that uses our software, you can also ask that business directly.
- You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP.
Children
Our software is for businesses and is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
If the operator changes
Young Corporation may transfer the software, and the information in it, to a successor that takes over the software, for example in a reorganization, merger or sale. The successor becomes the operator and must keep honoring this policy, including its text messaging commitments, for the information collected under it. We will update this page to name the new operator.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we update this page and its effective date. If a change reduces the protection this policy gives, we tell the businesses that use our software before it takes effect.
